As a result, you’re left with younger, healthier skin. The best part is it only targets cancerous cells. Healthy cells are left alone, undamaged.

Blue light therapy for acne is a safe, effective treatment. Most cases of acne are caused by the bacteria P. acnes. This bacteria emits its own photosensitizer, making it sensitive to blue wavelengths. Therefore, shining blue light onto acne prone skin can kill the bacteria and clear up acne breakouts.

How Effective Is It?

Blue light therapy is effective when it is used repeatedly. For actinic keratosis (precancerous sunspots), most patients require one to four treatments and an annual maintenance treatment. For acne, we usually recommend four to six treatments and a maintenance appointment every six months.
